Fotel announces its dealership for Escort Memory Systems and their HF line of RFID products for industrial automation. HF (high frequency) RFID differs from UHF (ultra-high frequesncy) in several key performance criteria. Most notably, HF applications are more durable and more reliable in close-proximity environments such as conveyerized inspection, packaging and sortation. HF is the technology of choice in many manufacturing environments where conditions are extremely harsh.
While most of the attention in RFID is directed at retail distribution and logistics, which is a relatively new and problematic technology, HF technology has been successfully deployed in manufacturing for decades. It will continue to a significant tool as manufacturing technology evolves and requires more and more data-gathering functionality, control automation and machine intelligence.
